Updates

In our world today everything is constantly becoming outdated. Every time a car is driven off the lot once it is bought the value of the car is dropped significantly. Why is this? One reason is probably because it was already out of date just sitting there! Why do we feel this need to have the newest and best item? I have just updated my MacBook to the new operating system. It is neat. Necessary? Probably not but still neat.

How does this fit in to our faith? Do we feel the need to update God? Or our we content with the God that has been around since before the beginning of time? What happens when we try to update God to fit OUR times??? DISASTER!!! God is the same God yesterday, today and tomorrow. There is no need to change HIM. We are the ones who need to change. To update ourselves if we have lost touch with him. If we have become to concerned with the updates of our world then maybe we need to restart and reboot with God as our operating system.

In Sickness or In Health

I am sitting in class trying to pay attention.

I am working on about 3 hours of sleep.

There is frost on the ground and cold season is in full bloom.

As loud as the professor is the coughing is drowning out the professor and no matter how hard I try to pay attention he has lost my focus.

Malone has an attendence policy. This is a flawed system. On one side it requires students to come to class and therefore learn the material. Getting the most out of their money. On the flip side, students are required to go to class when they are hacking up a lung! I get distracted very easily. Especially by noises such as tapping of pens, loud chewing of gum, whispering, and COUGHING! I feel that if you are sick and your head is cloudy anyways...STAY IN BED! And they the rest of us can pay attention. Granted I find other ways to distract myself but the coughing is really irritating me. Also, if a student can miss ever class except for test dates...more power to them! Would that not take a stronger student to miss class and still learn the material? Perhaps.

Should we have to come to class even when we are really sick? If you have already miss 3 times apparently we do!

Is this a flaw in the system? perhaps.

Stretch

I am a youth pastor. I have offically been one for almost a month now. Its weird that I am in charge of everything. No one to look to if something goes wrong or if I get too busy to plan something. Its all up to me. So far it has been great. We are studying great things and I'm excited about how God will be about to transform the young people's lives.

The church I am at is the most conservative church I could have imagined being at. I am not conservative. My bubble was popped 4 years ago. And has not had the option of forming again. I wouldn't allow it! The one nice thing about this conservative church is that thier old-fashioned ways makes them very welcoming and super friendly. But I am worried that if I am not about to pop some bubbles I will not be able to bring none churched kids into the youth group. As well as helping disciple the youth already their into witnesses for Christ to ALL people! I know it is in God's hands and he will create the disciples he needs in his children.

Faith.

Does trusting in God for a particular situation mean that we should do nothing about it? NO. Having faith does not give you a ticket out of all work. Many times people say that they have put their trust in God and then sit on the couch and wait for God to move moutians. Although, this maybe God's desire and will, this is not often how he works. God usually works while we faithfully work. Sometimes God may call us to be still and wait for him to move but more often our faith needs to be in that God will bring out his will through our actions. Furthermore, that we are about to do his will!

Why?

Before Chorale went to Jamaica, the college pastor spoke to us and asked us why. We needed to know why we were going on the trip. He also said that we may not know exactly know the why till afterwards. With the help of the book I'm currently reading, I have figured out my why. More to come later.
God bless!

Next...

The semester is over and I am so relieved. Soon is tour for Chorale. We are going to Jamaica this year. It is very exciting yet extremely stressful at the sametime. It is a tremendous mission oppertunity and we will bless and be bless throughout the entire trip. But we are going into a spititual battle at the same time. There is so much darkness down there and since we are doing something that is in God's will the warefare is going to be that much more prevalent. Prayers are definatly needed!! We leave super early Sunday morning but its exciting.

I am excited to read this summer. I have gotten quite a few books this year that I am looking forward to reading. Perhaps I try and write about things I'm reading here. I'll try. lol.

God Bless!

No longer alone

I have realized that I have great friends. I know that I am never alone because God is always with me be it is so hard to feel that sometimes. It is really important to have Christian friends to support and help you grow. I have found that! I am so excited and I am excited for the summer and continuing to grow in that friendship. I have also learned that friendships are two ways. That sounds really elementary but very difficult to put into practice. I cannot expect everyone to always call and invite me places. I need to call and make plans too. And I can't feel that because I am the one that makes the plans that I am more devoted to the friendship. I am going to try harder and not take things as personal within my friendships. I have good friends...we are busy. Its a fact of life. But my friends are great. I had a great day with two amazing women of God.
